I believe that therapy is sacred work.

My journey with therapy started as a 19-year-old, second semester freshman. I walked into the college counseling office, and my life was changed when a counselor helped me to see that I was not alone, that the things I thought were faults in me were actually understandable adaptations to challenges in my environment.

I believe that therapy is meant to help us create more compassionate space inside of ourselves. So many of us suffer from a highly-critical inner world. We beat ourselves up regularly, fault ourselves for feeling anything other than “good,” and struggle to find compassion for our own humanness.

I find that the most important element in my work with clients is gentleness, which is often resisted at first. We are so convinced that the only way we can improve ourselves is to work harder, grip tighter, but I have seen time and time again that it is only from a place of care that we can truly change. We cannot bully ourselves into being happier and more whole.

My approach to therapy is eclectic and holistic, informed by my education in Women's and Gender studies, my training in Hakomi somatic psychotherapy, and my experience as an herbalist and yoga teacher. In isolation these practices are powerful, but when combined, they are alchemic. These collective practices have had a profound impact on my life, which is why I have chosen to do this work in this way.

My therapy space is affirming and warm. I use the body and the mind to help uncover personal insight, and deepen inner wisdom. I am relational and psychodynamic, which means I believe a solid relationship between client and therapist is a critical piece of our work, and that our childhood experiences impact the way we move through the world today.

Together we will bring movement to stuck places, build trust in your inherent strengths and worthiness, and cultivate authentic practices that will help you navigate the ebbs and flows of life.

I am an out-of-network provider, and am happy to provide necessary information for insurance reimbursements. If you are interested in using out-of-network benefits, some useful questions to ask your insurance company may be:

  1. Do I have out-of-network benefits?

  2. If yes, do I have an out-of-network deductible?

  3. After I meet the deductible (if applicable), what percentage do you reimburse for a psychotherapy session?

  4. What is your maximum allowed amount for a psychotherapy session?

  5. Do I have an out-of-network out-of-pocket maximum?
